pose_Z34 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 I noticed a pic of a 1991-94 Lumina 3.4 sedan and it didn't have the vents on the hood. Aren't the vents there to prevent cooking the motor? Reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of temporarily swapping the hood from that very car to my Z34 while it gets repainted. Opinions?? Quote
meltboy1 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Personally I think it will be fine, the cuttys came with a 3.4 and how many of them have vented hoods... Quote
Euro Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Na, it won't really do any preventing from cooking the motor. I think 95% of their purpose is for looks. Quote
pose_Z34 Posted April 29, 2008 Author Report Posted April 29, 2008 Never thought about the cutty's. Always saw them on the Z's and GTP's, but wasn't sure about the 3.4 sedans. Thanks guys. Quote

GOT2B GM Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 they do allow for some heat dissipation, but they are not an essential part of the cooling system. Quote
pontiacmaniac94 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 they do allow for some heat dissipation, but they ARE an essential part of the cool system. FIXED! Quote
Psych0matt Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 no, they are not. They help a little, but that's it Quote

GOT2B GM Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 During highway driving, the engine shouldn't get hot enough to require the cooling fans in the first place. With or without louvers. But I know what you're saying Adam. Quote
AWeb80 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Ok. Lol. I Thought You Were Trying To Be Difficult. HaHa Quote

pontiacmaniac94 Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Just add a valence, and you'll be fine I was thinking the exact same thing as I read the first few posts in this thread still, the cool factor is major, especially on the GP, and the Lumina, makes em look fast....and i am pretty sure it adds atleast 15+ hp, but dont quote me on that....
