Shifter23
I was told and suggested by many to put later 3400 heads and intake on my TGP. I am adding a bigger turbo and injectors. The question is how much modification is needed to do this? Heads and intake plenum no prob but sensor hook-ups and the little things what else would be needed for this to do it right the first time? Anyone have a link?
meltboy1
http://www.3400swap.com/ from what I read custom manifolds and throttle cable off the top of my head will need to be done.
Dark Ride
this may be helpful as well http://www.tgpforums.com/index.php?topic=2604.

Custom manifolds? Basically hes talking about a 3400 top end swap. That TGP link will tell you everything you need to know.
meltboy1
ya, the flanges I think it is on the 3400 will not go onto the 3.1 crossover pipe to the turbo iirc I know he wants to do the whole top end swap, but I was tryin to add there's more than just the heads and intake that need to be done. I looked into doin it myself with my malibu 3100 top end when it died, but I can't afford the time and money for it now.

They are basically log manifolds used on every 3100/2.8/3.
meltboy1
are you sure they bolt right up to the crossover pipe though, I seem to remember seeing they were different on that end.
GutlessSupreme
The 3.1 exhaust manifolds will bolt up to the 3x00 heads, but the ports are so tiny that the restriction would be huge. Porting them to match 3x00 heads ports pretty much takes them down to nothing. You can just use the 3400 front manifold I guess, but the rear will have to be either a carefully ported turbo manifold or a modified 3400 one (block N/A downpipe flange). I don't remember if they match the crossover or not, either.
Dark Ride
my personal opinion, if you are adding a bigger turbo you might want to buy some flex joints and have a custom x-over made, you may end up moving some stuff around, (might need to move battery to trunk, etc.) but you'll have a much better setup than most of us when your done if you do it right. He best bet is a log style front manifold, and the rear 3400 manifold like you said, and then getting the xover.
