Simple solution. Go back to the yard and make a cardboard template of the vented hood. You just need 2 long strips make 2 jigs out of the carboard that look like the side of the hood, tape it to the hood and mark your cutouts. Use a hoby knife to make the cutouts in the cardboard.Go home layer some masking tape on the area of your hood that needs to be cutout. Put your cardboard jig on your hood and mark the cutout with a black marker, do this on both side. Presto you have pretty damn good cutting mark and should lineup no problem. I do this kind of shit in my trade ,only difference is I do cutouts on solid surface kitchens and other expensive custom millwork pieces. You will be suprised how easy it will be , in fact I will be doing the same thing to my car this week or the next.
