Switching from Dex-cool to the green stuff.....how to?

Have a dumb question - opening the drain on the rad, that not getting everything out - right.... I still need to flush it out with water....

 

So if I'm right so far, I was going to use some of this Prestone Super Flush - to give it a good cleaning (good idea???) then I guess what I'm asking is I need to make sure that crap is all out before refilling right?

Yes, the system needs to be completely flushed out before you switch.

I'm a 96 - I have Dex and I'm keep that - next problem, I drained the rad - I can't get more then a couple cups of water in to the rad before it over flows - I run it and it goes down - then fill again.... should I have the engine running as i re-fill?

It should take most of the coolant until you start filling the last little bit of the rad. Then you just have to squeeze the hoses a few times and it'll force the air out.

and open the top air bleeders ....top of thermostat housing and WP

thanks everyone - got it done tonight and everything works great now.

 

Put in a 180 at the same time, and now I've got heat inside the car - before the gauge barlly moved
