RZB1992
When riding in my car, it sounded like there was a winding noise coming from the rear wheel area, (figured it to be the hub). Since my dad and I couldn't agree on which side of the rear the noise was coming from, we checked both rear wheels, the right side hub seemed to be a little less loose than the left, but we also noticed that the actual emergency brake was loose on the right side. Could this loose emergency brake be causing the noise?? We figured it might possibly be because both hubs didn't make odd noises or anything, and the left emergency brake was tight. GJD5
Try this . . . leave the wheel bolted on the car tightly and then raise it up off the ground. Grasp the tire and try and wiggle it, if you feel any play at all, you need a new wheel bearing. The emergency brake won't cause any play in the wheel, it's either the bearing or your wheel isn't on tight.
RZB1992
hey, thanks for the advice, I ended up putting a new hub on the back right wheel, and long story short, I found out it was a crap tire, (nothing to do with the hub). there's $120 of my money wasted for the hub and puller, and alot of time swapping tires. IRONDOG442
Ryan I am sorry I hadnt read this earlier Intrigues rear wheel bearings NEVER fail if you hear a noise coming from the rear its almost ALWAYS the tires. I have fixed and sold so many Intrigues I should know by now. I also have about 10 rear bearings so if you need another one for some odd reason call me. I will send you one for free. RZB1992
kool, and thanks. Yeah, now that you said that I'll prbbly put my old hub back on, and try and sell the newer one I got from the j/y. If anyone's interested in a hub from a Century with only 25,000 miles message me, cause I might swap them back. And as for the lesson learned, don't trust the tires some messy slob (the woman who owned it b4 me) puts on the car, even if they look newer. O well.
