Need wheel hub removal help quick

I have the drive axle nut off and the 4 bolts that hold the hub in place. However now its not going anywhere. Matt said when he did the vert it just fell right off.

I've wailed on it with a hammer, tried wedging a flat head screw driver between the hub and the axle knuckle, even used a punch to wail on it from the back, not going anywhere.

I see there are 2 studs at the top of the hub, on the other side they appear to be holding the ABS sensor in place, however I do not see heads on either ends of these "studs"

Yes, its on the front...

The manual said to use a puller to push on the drive axle and pull on the hub, that didn't work, it just kept pushing the axle out... I stopped before it went all the way out...

Matt suggested putting the weight of the car back down on it slowly... that suffice?

you must be careful not to damage anything if it suddenly seperates. I would screw in the retainer bolts, leaveing them loose by maybe 5 turns (or 1/4-1/2 inch) so if it pops you don;t drop thebody on the wheel trashing a fender or driveaxle.

so... with precautions... YES.

So even putting the weight of the car didn't do the trick! So I put it all back together. It will have to wait till I can take the whole strut knuckle off to knock it off from the back...

If I'm going to this extant I'm going to replace all of the wheel studs... in fact, I might even upgrade to the 11.25 inch brakes I have always thought I had.... I hate being wrong!

Thanks for the help

I actually tried using the pick end of the spare tire lug wrench, and nothing. I even wailed on the thing with a BFH trying to get them to separate.

The way I see it, I should be fine driving on the 4 studs for a while, provided I don't do anything stupid. There are plenty of other, bigger, cars out there with 4 bolt wheels...

I drove with 4 studs for a couple of months. you'll be fine.

I dunno if putting weight on it would make a big difference.. I would, however, try bolting the wheel back on with the hub bolts/axle nut out, then you can grab the whole wheel for leverage and try and rock the hub out.

My ABS sensor studs.. I think I cut them flush with the hub then pounded them through with a punch. That could be part of the hang up.

If you've wailed on the hub too much it's prolly toast.. make sure your wheel doesn't suddenly have a half inch of play in all directions, like mine did

I didn't wail on the hubs rotating assembly... I kept it to the outer edges of the plate that mounts to the strut knuckle...

I've decided I'm going to try and do a budget rake upgrade to the 11.25" rotors, maybe I will luck out and get a 96 assembly with a good hub, if not when I swap them I can look into new hubs...
