Fleeingpepper
What kind of mileage does everyone get in their verts? I've checked twice after filling up and I got 20 and 18. With the 3100! Isn't that pretty low? I do punch the gas a lot, but that's baaad! Right? What do you all get?
Psych0matt
I was getting around 23 or so highway, on bad plugs and two bad wheel bearings. Fixed one wheel bearing, second soon, and new plugs ready to go in, with the stock tires I'd expect to hit high 20s highway
ManicMechanic
30-32 in '94 3.4...'92 3.1 got about 35...
jmoore4294
Last time I calculated mine it was ~15 mpg. ~200 miles to the tank.
DOHCRagtopguy
I'm getting 21-23 on 87 octane. 3.
olds cutlass
Which of you have 3.4's and which of you have 3.1's? I'm looking at a 95 vert with a 3.4 to replace my wife's Jeep Cherokee but if i'm looking at only 18 to 23mpg with a 3.4 I'm not going to be gaining anything as far as mpg. I have a 3.1 in my 2 door supreme and get 28 to 34mpg regularly. Ease up on the take offs and you will be amazed at how much your mpg's increase. On one tank I tried to keep it below 2500 rpm taking off and accelerating and got 36mpg out of that tank. Its hard to do all the time. It really pisses off these women that are driving into work in the morning and they are riding your ass, putting on makeup, drinking coffee, eating breakfast, and talking on the cell all at the same time. jmoore4294
I have the 3.4. I saw a window sticker once for a 3.4 in a 95 vert like mine, and I think city MPG was only 17. And that's still about what I get.
Psych0matt
I think I was getting about 18 MPG city, 3.
Fleeingpepper
Wow. Well I don't ever remember the plugs being replaced, so I'm gonna get to that in the coming weeks, and also seafoam. Hopefully it'll go up. Gas has jumped 30 cents in the past week to get to....3.39. And yes, I drive like a banshee. I'm sure you all did when you first got your licenses too! kbviper
In a long highway drive I followed my wife - she was driving a 1992 3.1 vert, I was driving a 3.4 1994. I filled both at the same time and checked the mileage carefully. The 3.1 got 30 mpg, the 3.4 got 25 mpg.
arizlang
Factory estimates were 18/30 mpg for the 3.1 liter and 17/29 mpg for the 3.4 liter
ripp
I have the 3100 and get 26mpg drive 45 miles one way to work and my top speed is 55mph
Fmr12B
3.4L @ 112K miles 18mpg city driving On a pure highway trip I did get 24mpg but that was with the top down, A/C on, and a trunk full of luggage. 17/26 was the EPA estimate for the convertible. It weighs several hundred pounds more than a coupe hence the mileage decrease.
Addicted To Boost
top down, A/C on Why?
j_mezz
Much greater wind resistance with the top down, and the engine has to work harder to turn the A\C compressor.
jmoore4294
Actually you get better gas mileage with the A/C and the windows and top up.
Fmr12B
top down, A/C on Why? Was about 102-106 degrees in the Sacramento valley and we were driving up to a conference in Redding last summer. Was miserably hot but we enjoy the top down tan and the A/C provided a bit of relief.
Fleeingpepper
WOW! I just filled up and got 17.2. I knew I drove it hard but geez! I kinda abused the fact that my tires now squeal if I punch it since a motor mount in my tranny got fixed.
