ihateallmustangs
I went to the yard this morning and pulled a complete assembly off another car and put it on. Here is a pic of what happend to the old one: Note: I pulled the wheel off and had a look today and the top caliper slider bolt (tje one with no bolt on the end) was broken in half allow the caliper to move freely on one side. Now one end is stuck in the bracket and the other in the caliper , both siezed together by rust. Question though is only one side of these 94-up caliper bolts supposed to be removeable? Mine are like a hinge because there is nowhere to put a socket on the top one. I did the rear pads on my 96' was a breeze now the drivers side rear was a little stiffer to get the piston back in compared to the passenger side. I scored the rotor a little on the passenger side but put pads over the old rotors anyway. My driver side now has a thumping when I brake on the highway for a little while. It seems to go away and then come back. The pads are set in fine ,but the new pads are a little bit wider then the ones I took off (more pad) so I noticed the pad rubbing on top of a worn grove on the old rotor. The passenger side pad has "polished" the grove down but the drivers side still has small rusted and pitted areas , could this cause the thumping? If you hard brake the thumping goes away. GOT2B GM
buy some cheapo rotors from crappy tire and call it a day. $20 each. Good enough for the back.
sonofjabba
You used the special screw tool for the calipers right???
Crazy K
I always grind off rust chunks and stuff from the rotors, as they can actually cause wear to the pads, and increase the amount of rust on the rotors. I have this problem on the sierra pickup. besides the fact that these rotors are $80 and up EACH... I CAN'T even remove three of the rotors because they are seized to the hubs. I actually took a grinder to them to derust. Fucking truck.
Hairdo12
I think your caliper is sticking or you need to re-service your slider pins. It probably won't thump when the rotor is cold, but 5 miles of driving will heat it up and will make it thump with light braking.

Hairdo12
if i remember correctly, one slider pin bolts to the bracket and the other to the caliper. The pin on the bracket can be removed and just bolts to the bracket. Don't over tighten it because I snapped the bolts off and its a pain to get out. Go to autozone and get the slider pin package... it cost me 3.95 for one set. It comes with both slider pins and new bolts. I would stronly reccomend not replacing the silver caps as I can never get the after market ones to fit (but those might only come with the boot kit).
