pwmin
When I sold the Prix, I left the 2 amps that were in there that I took out of the camaro, so now I have no amp and I need something. I don't need a lot of power and don't want to spend much money, so I figured a 5-channel would be best as I have it all wired up for a single 4-channel (wired at 4 ohms) and a 2-channel or mono (can't remember how, but it's easy to change). I found 3 amps that would work, i think. Is the Crunch just a total POS or are all of my choices? Any other suggestions are welcome. Right now, I have two no-name 4x6's in the dash and 2 no-name 6x9's in the rear (i also left all my infinity speakers in the Prix) along w/ 2 free-air MTX Road Thunder 10s (the cheapos). I know that's not ideal, but if they blow...no big deal, i already have an extra, anyway. The alphasonic would look the best the way I have the wires ran, but that's about the least of my concerns. http://cgi.ebay.com/CRUNCH-PZI550-5-POWERZONE-700-WATT-5-CHANNEL-AMP-NEW-06_W0QQitemZ250237036452QQihZ015QQcategoryZ39739QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://www.mainstreet-audio.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PMZ-12005A&Category_Code= http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/4366
slick
Out of all of those, the only one I would even consider would be the Hifonic's. I have some amps for sale in the Other For Sale section btw, but none are 4 channel, so thats not helping you out any
slick
Just keep in mind that if your planning on running your subwoofer off of the same amp, not to expect a lot of output, especially from free air subwoofers. The power output is very low, compared to what a subwoofer generally needs, and free air subwoofers blow nuts for bass reproduction.

I don't really care if it has a lot of bass. however, being a hatchback, it really helps and makes it sound better than it normally would. I hardly ever drive the car, anyway. I'm actually supposed to put it in a car show on Saturday and it looks terrible w/ wires hanging out.

I disagree, because either that install sucked massively or you've never heard a proper IB install. I've heard a pair of Image Dynamics IDQ15's IB, and they MURDERED off of 250 watts a piece. One of the best installs I've EVER heard. Kef Kef
slick
There are subs that will perform well, but you will never get the performance from a free air sub from a sub in an enclosure.

Again, I'll have to disagree. IB subs wouldn't be used in HT setups if they didn't play low with authority and clarity, while needing less power to achieve the same swept volume. It's a simple concept, but quite difficult to pull off PROPERLY. Note the capitalized word. Kef
pwmin
I think I'm going to wait a little. I'm still thinking a 5-channel, but I'd like to get something better and nicer-looking. what would you suggest that isn't too expensive? I can only name 2, maybe 3 people, that are members on this forum, who hardly frequent, that can pull it off. I know I sure as hell can't. w00tah
@ Slick: Not trying to be a dick or anything, just pointing out that if done right, IB can outperform sealed and ported enclosures especially with lower power amplifiers. I know it's hard to pull it off right, but if done right, it can be amazing. OP: Any exact budget? How much space do you have available for the sub/s and amp? What kind of sound are you looking for out of it? Any electrical upgrades? I'll do some looking tonight when I get home from work. I'll stick to my ported enclosures, they're easier to build

Let me say $300 but I can probably wait and save up till i could afford a little more. If I have to, I can go a 4-channel plus mono. The old amps (and the wires are run) sit on the trunk platform (do you know what I mean, 3rd gen f-body), so I have about a 3'x4' space, so that's no matter. I have crappy speakers and subs and am not looking for competition, just something to sound decent when I don't wanna listen to the exhaust, etc. I have a 140A? alternator and just a regular battery (accidentally left the yellow top in the prix when I sold it). I'm only running 4 ga wire and I have set of 4-channel RCA's and a set of 2-channel. I don't have a shit-ton of room to stretch them. w00tah
Baby Belle or Directed 1100/5 would be about ideal, I'd think. Kef
