Hal H
The GVWR is: Curb weight of vehicle (all fluids at operating levels) + # of passengers @ 175 (average) + cargo capacity of trunk (approx 200# assumption) = Gross Vehicle Weight Rating Any of you guys that have pickup trucks, look at the info sticker and you'll see GVWR ratings in the 5to6K ranges... The curb weights for 1st Gen W's (from lightest to heaviest) - this depends on equipment levels. The springs have about 10 different versions, depending on suspension, (FE1, FE2 or FE3) and the options the car was built with. The rear fiberglass springs have a 3 letter code stamped into the spring itself and you use that to match up your replacement, FYI. (had to to replace mine, and it was "FRR" or "FFR" as I remember). A/C, power seats, sunroofs, automatic tranny, and power accessories - add weight to base level models that don't have these as "standard". Also, the suspension option will have different thickness sway bars which vary in weight. Lumina (Z34's ~ 3,400 #) Cutlass Supreme Buick Regal (typically had more sound deadner on these) Grand Prix ~ 3,500-3,600# (esp. with the B4U trim) CS Convertibles ~ 3,800+# (top mechanism heavier, plus all the reinforment bracing added to body to) 4 door bodies may be a little heavier due to add'l hinge hardware, side impact beams in rear doors, additional p/w motors, window regulators, etc... Fleeingpepper
OKC!? I'm gonna have to keep a lookout. I'm only about 90 mins from there, and most people who look for vehicles to buy online set it to a 100 mile radius so that OKC cars show up. Suprisingly, on these cars, the sedans are lighter than the coupes. Also, I do remember reading on here somewhere that the Z34 was one of the heaviest 1st gens as well.
