Aaron
for one i am to pull the engine and completely tear it down. then im gonna take the crankshaft, bare block, pistons, etc to a local machine shop. they are gonna re-ring it, turn the crank, and install all new rod bearings. it turns ouut i spun 2 of them instead of 1 like i thought. now the fun part. my dad says if i can find the pistons, hes ok with me having them bore the block a little, but finding pistons is the hard part. also, head work. fun. fun. fun. if we do get it bored and higher compression or the same, but new pistons, he says he wants the shop to do a multi-anlge valve job, and recondition the lifters, along with a full P7P of the intake and exhaust runners and lower intake, and port match my upper intake with RSM's TB. now these are the plans, but $$$ could change all of this. RomeoZ34
Aaron, you know money WILL change all of this, thats some damn expensive work bro. I spent almost 3k on my rebuild, and I didn't do ANY porting/polishing/matching. And I am skeptical if you can bore it .30 over.
hoodilio
What about doin an L67 swap instead.
slick
I personally think its a good idea. A lot of money, but a good idea. And it should be nice and powerfull too
RomeoZ34
L67? WHY?? 40 more Hp, right? It's also .4 liter bigger, redlines around 2k rpm's less than us, and not N/A. If he does the swap, he won't have a new motor. This way he will have a new motor, still have a rev happy motor, and if he puts 6psi on that thing, it will smoke any L67 around....'Cept maybe Zoomer's, FieroX's or Tom's. Aaron
What about doin an L67 swap instead. WTF??? Why??? i can already slap a GTP around, even if it has intake and exhaust. and that is with my old tired motor, i was walking them. and im down 30hp, lots of tq., and 4 tenths of a liter. my god. by me running to 7k rpms, i have a HUGE advantage over most cars. lets face it, the 3.4 has much more potential than the L67, just not the aftermarket. also, the L67 will be twice as much, then i will have an automatic. yah, an automatic. and if my car was nice and poiwerful before, picture it afterwards. my goal is to beat john's 14.3, WITHOUT headers 8)
Brian P
Everyone spits out the phrase "Drop in an L67" about as fast as inhaling a dirty water hot dog whole, which I bet most here have that experience. "My waterpump went, I think I'll just take out a loan and out in an L67" But ok if someone is looking for one, there's one going real low on ebay now and it's mis-listed so not too many know about it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=26446&item=2425355766

GnatGoSplat
Probably the only thing nice about the L67 swap is you can have a 13-second car in a matter of months, rather than, "sometime in the future, hopefully before retirement, but hopefully before I pass on and leave the project to my kids". Lee
I can't wait to get my screaming 102cc x 4, 6 speed pocket rocket back from the shop.
