BXX Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Well, I decided my 2.5" FWI was better than stock, but felt like it was falling off about 5000rpm. So, I bought some parts and fabbed a 3" FWI today. Definately a difference, especially on the top end to the 6000rpm WOT shift. I really need to relocate the battery for more reasons than the FWI (underhood heat is an issue) so I will be ordering a relocation kit from Summit soon. Yes, I know the battery is ghetto rigged right now. Now on to the pics!! The cost of everything was pretty cheap. Once the battery gets relocated, I can adjust the pipe a bit to straighten it out. Pipe - $15 eBay Extra Coupler - $8 AutoZone Cone Filter - $25 AutoZone Relocation Kit - $80 Summit (not yet purchased) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- $48 for Intake, $128 with battery relocation Quote
Euro Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 nice, clean your engine bay for chrissakes Quote

BXX Posted April 9, 2008 Author Report Posted April 9, 2008 6000RPM WOT shift? Mine shifts 5500 WOT. Mine shifts at 6000rpm, and pretty snappy at that. I know the transmission is a GM Goodwrench tranny, so who knows whats up with it... nice, clean your engine bay for chrissakes Why??? Its a old crappy 161K engine bay... it'll be clean once I paint the car or I decide to rip the engine out for a rebuild.. Quote
Night Fury Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 nice, clean your engine bay for chrissakes Why??? Its a old crappy 161K engine bay... it'll be clean once I paint the car or I decide to rip the engine out for a rebuild.. Because it's disgusting. Quote
BXX Posted April 9, 2008 Author Report Posted April 9, 2008 my engine bays needs a lot more than a degreasing and cleaning... So thats why im not messing with it right now... Quote
BXX Posted April 9, 2008 Author Report Posted April 9, 2008 So what, dirty cars cant have performance mods done.. dude, GTFO... My car is an abused guinea pig, not a show car Quote

Euro Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Just my nature. I don't see the point of modding a car that's always dirty as fuck. Just doesn't seem worth it. Quote
jmoore4294 Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 But it doesn't have to be clean to work. Or even work better. My engine bay isn't spotless. And never will be, mostly because I'm the only one who looks at it, and it doesn't bother me. Quote
Euro Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Right-o! It's all personal preference. Carry on Quote
Venom Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 LOL yeah, theres no way in hell Im ever going to clean my engine bay other then fixing the occasional leak. But if I ever do an engine swap then I would give it a good cleaning. BTW, what are you doing with the old intake? Quote
GP1138 Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Well also clean engine parts dissipate heat better than dirty ones. Quote
BXX Posted April 9, 2008 Author Report Posted April 9, 2008 LOL yeah, theres no way in hell Im ever going to clean my engine bay other then fixing the occasional leak. But if I ever do an engine swap then I would give it a good cleaning. BTW, what are you doing with the old intake? The filter was junk on it, and from where the pipe was kinda rubbing the fenderwell since I never secured it, it started to rub through... If you want it, you can have it. Just throw some tape or epoxy where it was rubbing. It'll just be the pipe and 1 coupler. You will still need a 3" coupler from like AutoZone and a cheapo air filter. If you want, I can make you one for $60... Take into account you will need to either bungy down the battery or relocate it. Either way, the 3" is definately a big difference all around. Well also clean engine parts dissipate heat better than dirty ones. My engine doesnt get anywhere close to overheating, so dirt/grime isnt an issue. Quote
BXX Posted April 9, 2008 Author Report Posted April 9, 2008 Well since I already own a battery tray and holddown sitting in my garage, I decided against a relocation kit since I just won this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140221160146&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=004 Better than paying $80 for a 2ga kit.. The 1/0 will be bigger and better. It'll only cost me like $5 for 2 universal side post terminals and about another $5 for some terminals. $48 is > $80 any day Quote
Venom Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Yeah Ill just take the old one off of you if you dont mind. I already got the filter and can pick up a coupler the next time Im at the zone. Just stop by the next time youre in town. BTW, Nice score on the wire. Quote
Addicted to eaton Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 How much to make 2 of them? Maybe trade for Ipod video? 30gb Quote
per0781 Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 don't take your car to any track. it will definitely not pass inspection with a bungy cord as a battery tie down. Quote
Euro Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 don't take your car to any track. it will definitely not pass inspection with a bungy cord as a battery tie down. The tracks around here don't even inspect. If you look stock like he does they'll just let you in. Quote
