3.1cutlass
My 3.1 cutlass has a 4T60. Last night just messing around i was launching the car a few times and when i would do this it would spin the tires and then kinda jerk some and take off then hit the rev limiter between 1st and second. It was acting like it did not want to shift. It is slightly low on fluid. Whats going on?
1990lumina
Fill it up to where it should be and don't bag on it so hard.

Robby1870
i checked it cold and it was full does that matter? You should check it, warm, in neutral on a flat surface.

CSI_MuNkY
Is it a safe assumption that it is "warm" once the engine is up to operating temp? This is something I should probably check, its been at least a year... Jamie
88red4cyl
Is it a safe assumption that it is "warm" once the engine is up to operating temp? Jamie I think you're supposed to drive it around for a little bit and move the selector through all the gears a slowly a couple times before you check it.. At least that's what I've always been told..

WrathOfSocrus
i checked it cold and it was full does that matter? You should check it, warm, in neutral on a flat surface. Read the dip stick. Both my 89 Cutlass and 2000 Venture say to be in Park. Obviously warm, idling, and level surface. It's all on the dip stick!
z34Phoenix
i've noticed that these tranys are prone to slip if the temp is above 195*F. but like said they arent designed for harsh driving like that... adding a trany cooler will help but still wont make the trany any stronger... a 180* thermostat is also a good idea to keep heat from the coolent from heating up the trany fluid
Fleeingpepper
Spinning the tires when you start is REALLY bad on the transmission.. If you keep doing that it'll only get worse. And your transmission wasn't built for performance.
Robby1870
i checked it cold and it was full does that matter? You should check it, warm, in neutral on a flat surface. Read the dip stick. Both my 89 Cutlass and 2000 Venture say to be in Park. Obviously warm, idling, and level surface. It's all on the dip stick! Fair enough. I havent looked at mine in a while, but I think it says park or neutral. Same difference anyway.
