terryk2003 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 that sucks what car is that in ? his cutlass... that sucks man...reminds me of when johns gtp spun a bearing @ IDD a couple years ago! Quote
88red4cyl Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 I can't tell from the pic, but is there water in the oil or did it run out of oil? Either way, that sucks man.. Quote
hotrodolds Posted April 5, 2008 Author Report Posted April 5, 2008 I am guessing it spun a bearing. There is coolant in the oil...again. I have a spare short block, so we'll see what we can save, and go from there. Not sure if it blew a HG, or a LIM gasket. Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 That sucks man. Am I ever glad that didn't happen to me when I blew my head gaskets all to shit. (5 out of 6 cylinders went at the same time) I figure the only reason I didn't end up with a spun bearing was because I had Royal Purple in the car and didn't run it at all after I saw coolant flowing out the exhaust pipe. Jamie Holy shit, you had unburned coolant out the exhaust?! That sucks dude, didn't you have oiling problems before? When you posted your oil filter? Quote
hotrodolds Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 Yeah, but going off of someone elses' advice of tasting the oil, and if it was sweet, it had coolant, if bitter it didn't, I operated under the assumption that as bitter as mine was, there wasn't any coolant in it. The coolant level is down today, and the oil level up...about a quart. So, apparently, there was more to it than that. It took about 500 miles. The oil definitely do its job of protecting the engine. Mobil1 was FAR superior in that manner. Quote
shadow Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Wow sorry to hear that but you seem relatively cool about it. If it were me I would be so sad over it. Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Holy shit, you had unburned coolant out the exhaust?! Indeed I did, left a trail about half a kilometer long. Had it towed from there to the shop, then when I couldn't afford the job, Q-ball and his gf helped me push it home... When I emptied the oil a couple days later, the oil looked like chocolate milk, and there was twice as much as there should of been, lol. Jamie Quote
hotrodolds Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 There's no point in getting mad about it...that won't help. I scored a short block for not much money a while back, so I have that as a starting point. I lost my job on Friday, but a couple of interviews have been VERY positive. I'm hoping to have this back on the road in a reasonable amount of time, maybe even badder than ever. Quote
