ZacksZ34 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 i wanna remove the stripe that goes aroung my z34 to help clean it up some. What do i use to get rid of them without messin up my paint??? Quote
ZacksZ34 Posted April 2, 2008 Author Report Posted April 2, 2008 the red and grey pinstripe that goes aound the bumpers and sides Quote
runt Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Heat (hair dryer/heat gun) and a credit card to get the stripe off. Then Goo Gone to get the left over residue. That's how I've done it in the past. Quote
ManicMechanic Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 GooGone kinda sucks...I use acetone or Fingernail Polish remover. Quote
5speedz34 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Make sure to re-wax that area! The remover will strip anything off the clearcoat. I would be careful with a heat gun since they do get very hot, same with a blow dryer. Especially on the bumpers! Use the heat sparingly. Quote
Matts97cutty89 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Ya when i removed my pinstripe i used a blow drier because it didnt get as hot as a heat gun be carefull if you use a credit card not to scratch the living sh** outta your paint since your car is black. It will prolly take a while to come off because it has been on there for so long and you might want to buff your whole car after because you will really be able to see where the stripe was on black paint! Good luck and post some pics when its all said n done!! Quote

5speedz34 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 If you can find where the stripes meet, you should be good to go. Quote

AL Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 when the original owner of my car told me about takin stuff like that off... he said to use fishing string and just go up and down and it will pull it off... he didnt use any remover... he just found a spot that was a little loose Quote
