mounting a 92-98 Gm Eaton 3800 super charger on a gen II 3.1?

I never heard of any one super charging a 3.1 before if its possible to mount it up I would start saving righte away to to get the blower, new belt, intake, etc.

It wouldnt work without a completely custom lower intake, TB, bigger injectors, Computer modifications, new belt, sensors relocated, etc. So, basically impossible. Sorry. Your best bet is to take a turbo setup from a TGP and hook it up on your 3.1L

Geez man...you'd blow the welds on your intake

Seriously though, the bottom end of the motor would be kinda weak if you were to put a supercharger on it. You could use the block from a 3100...at least that's a little stronger. But I'd have to agree with robby..find a TGP engine. Either that, or swap in an L67.

that suuucks

cause I hear Tgps arent reliable at all I dont wanna have to turn wrenches every othe weekend.

and if I saw blower when I poped my hood and had a blower i could hold my head highe instead of draging my head in shame every time I see that ugly 3.1 manifold lol..

I gues its save for a L67 or leave the engine bay alone

I dunno..I'm pretty damn proud to pop the hood and see 3.1 Intercooled Turbo on my manifold :D

TGPs are reliable cars if they're taken care of. But that's no different than any other car out on the road. And they would be WAY more reliable than slapping a supercharger on your 3.1

Hows the 3100 block stronger?

It has thicker cylinder walls. :D

ok righte now know I'm understanding the fact that it would require a cust lower intake or some sort of adapter and moving sensors and a computer chip but................

if you can run 12lbs of boost on a 3.1 with turbo...........how would it damage the bottom end running the stock 9lbs of boost from the supercharger?

I could see if I was talkin bout put like a 3" or smaller pulley on and runnin over 15lbs of boost.....

You could always mount it Grand Am SC/T style and not have to bother with a custom intake manifold. You'd just need custom mounting brakets and belt drive setup.

I'm talking about the supercharged SC/T prototype, not the non-SC'd one that made production.

there was a turbo charged grand am next to the GTP we tore apart at the junkyard, 2.5L old style body, like late 80's, 2 door, we also saw 2 dodge minivans with the 2.5L turbo charged engine

Roots type blowers have been know to rip lower ends apart, as opposed to a centrifugal or turbo. Thats just my opinion though. I still think you are better off doing a turbo swap.
