Fleeingpepper Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Soo I thought there would be something on this forum about visually looking to see if your gaskets, READ: Intake gasket, had been replaced, but I searched and didn't see anything. Is there a sure-tell sign of seeing if it has been replaced or not? Feeling if it's plastic or something? Would a replaced one be a different color? (it should be! silly engineers) Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 unless theres a record of it being changed, you cannot tell. Quote
hotrodolds Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Look at the bolts for the valve covers and intake manifold. If they have been off, then you SHOULD see marks from the tools on them. If you can not, then, the probably have not been off. If you pull a valve cover, you should be able to marks on the rocker bolts, too. Quote

DOHCRagtopguy Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 As far as intake gaskets, you can't really tell too easily if they have been changed. If you suspect a vacuum leak, get a can of Clean-R-Carb or the equivalent, fire up the engine and spray the stuff around the mating surfaces where the gasket is. If there is a leak, the idle will change. Quote
