okay i own a 92 z34 lumina with a automatic transmission and i don't like the fact of it having a rev limiter is there an easy way to elminate it???

Posted

Yeah, dont floorboard it in park or neutral....

your engine will thank you

of course, you could always have a custom prom chip burned to eliminate it

The rev limiter is there so your engine doesnt overrev and blow up. Unless it is the governor you want to get rid of.. which is an entirely different thing

well when i rev it stops at 3000rpm and makes me not wanna waste cash on a aftermarket exhaust

Good = Expensive..

Its really personal preference.. I love my Flowmasters, but people dont like them on the LQ1s, whereas other will.

Flowmaster, Borla.... Keep it name brand

Magnaflows sound really nice, but they are pretty loud.

No, they sound like ass and will rot out very quickly

You will want some kind of a resonator, otherwise it will be REALLY raspy.

okay thanks guys im think i might look for some magnaflows or some dynamax mufflers for it

BTW...........

The P/N rev limiter may only be 3500rpm or somesuch, but *IN* gear it's 6850rpm IIRC (for auto trannied LQ1's).

You can ONLY hit in in 2nd though. Trying to hold 1st manually will still result in a shift, and the top speed governor will cut down in 3rd at less than 6K (usually at 118-121mph)..........and even if it wasn't there, you'd NEVER hit the rev limiter in 3rd.........it's past 140mph (and you don't make the power to go that fast anyway).

Also.........be aware that the chip we were talking about in the other thread allows you to set the rev limit where you want..........I would suggest no higher than the factory 7K redline though (you CAN go as high as 7150rpm, but there is no need).
