I need to know this ASAP!

This only applies to people who have an 88 to 89 2.8L or 3.1L, because they use the same EVRV type EGR Valve.

When my car was idling hot today, I went to check all the vacuum lines coming out of the throttle body. All of them had steady strong vacuum EXCEPT for the one going to the EGR Valve, it was completely dead, no vacuum at all!!??

Now, if this EGR Valve was the Negative Backpressure type, I would understand, because any vacuum would make the valve open, BUT, these EGR valves are the opposite, meaning vacuum keeps them CLOSED...

So, can anyone here with the same EGR valve do me a favor and check to see if, when you pull the EGR's vacuum line out of the throttle body there's vacuum or not?

THANKS A MILLION!:)

Well, at idle you EGR shouldn't be open at all so thats a good sign for you.

When de-accelerating, the EGR opens to recirculate those gases to be reburned.

So, you won't notice a gauge reading untill you release the gas pedal.

Plus, why are you asking? If it runs, it runs... Still having problems on you pushrod?

Yeah, still running RICH, but if you read my most recent post, I think I have found a culprit, or at least one of the culprits!:)

I found out that the reason there's no vacuum coming from that hose slot at idle is because it's apparently routed to a PORTED VACUUM source, therefore it only has vacuum OFF idle...

THANKS:)

Thanks man!:) Don't worry, I'll keep you posted!:)

I hate it when people have problems, we give suggestions, and then they never come back to tell us what the hell the problem actually was!!!???

It hardly ever happens on this board, but a lot of other car repair forums etc...

:)
