kaptnjack
Ok....it was decided that a full rebuild of the existing oem tranny was the way to go. The cases have been split and cleaned and the rebuild is complete with the exception of the pump. The pump and impellor chewed itself up and is unusable,,,the pump body and cover are chewed up and junk. (what causes this?) Here's the problem....cant find a replacement pump. The tranny shop has tried every supplier in 200 miles and tried 5 pumps from three suppliers and they are all wrong and nobody can seem to locate the right one. The pump that came out of my tranny has two switches and no bleed valve. All the replacements offered by various suppliers have a bleed valve and the fluid ports/channels are different. The numbers on the oem pump casing halves are 8651507 and 8651508. I am not totally sure becuse a google search offers only a couple of results but....it appears the pump assembly GM part number "may" be 24200574 If I could locate a good pump that would be great...If I could locate good pump and cover casing I could put a kit in it so...there are a couple of options. Does anyone have any experience with this type issue? Anybody have a source for this part? Any links for more info? Any help would be appreciated. Also...I found a refernce to 93 tranny pumps...the alldata reference is ATRATB281 JAN 95 Can you look that up for me? Also..... there are about fifty recall references to the 93 4t60e and 3.4L DOHC I would like to look at is there anyway I can access the alldata system using someones account to research this stuff? kaptnjack
went to the dealer this morning.....the pump assembly for this application was discontinued in 2005. No known units in any warehouses or parts departments system wide. I might have a line on one in Cleavland, OH....I will update Monday after a phonecall. kaptnjack
Well....I found one used pump in Portland OR. I had it shipped 3000 miles, it came in yesterday, it was installed in the tranny and the install began yesterday about 4pm. Now...if the tranny shop can find all the misc bolts, nuts, hangers, brackets etc that was on/in the original attachment points after 4 weeks in pieces...we will be good...I hope. kaptnjack
Pump came in and it was right and nice. Installed it...went through the tranny and flushed everything...reassembled the car....still doesnt pull. Pulled it all back out and checked everything. Valve body appeared warped, blocked it and recleaned and installed everything....still doesnt pull. Shop tech decided the valvebody had a crack internally and ordered a replacement...tried all the local suppliers and nobody had one...ordered out of state...shipment misdelivered/delayed Well...the ordered valvebody got here...finally...and it was wrong too. The shop spent another day looking through various parts in various locations and gave up. I am now tasked with finding the proper valve body for a replacement. At this point...if I find one....(they tell me this is all thats left to try short of starting over with a full JY tranny replacement w/rebuild)...we will try it and see if it solves the issue. The Tech expressed yesterday that he thinks there is an unseen crack somewhere in the valvebody allowing pressure blowby. So...as we speak...I am on the search for a valve body with the following markings... Lester 30 171 92 316 Channel Plate markings.... CAV 50 8682217 general info 1993 4t60e 3.4L DOHC CWW tranny
kaptnjack
Well...I found a pump/VB/ChannelP assembly in Miami and had it overnighted here. Now get this......the assembly that came in had the same part numbers cast into the channel plate, valvle body and pump and all the numbers matched the original parts but.....the parts are completly different. the old channel plate is a 8682217 with three solenoids and no accumalator, the new one has the same number but has 4 solenoids and has an accumalator....go figure The old pump is cast marked as 1507 and 1508 and has two switches and no bleed valve...the new one has the matching numbers but has no switches. This is the weirdest shit If ever seen any ideas?
