Hello.I would like your opinion about an air intake for DOHC 3.4 on ebay, its posted every day. $15 plus shipping you cant beat, but......can it be true it has such a good effect on the engines HPs??? I thought when a fuel injected car, especially with a computer which regulates the fuel/air mix, is equipt with such device it will have NO EFFECT??? Am I wrong? I use right now a K+N airfilter, but if this intake really gives some more HPs for $15 I wouldnt say no to it.

1 no.

2 provide a link so i can be sure I am correct!

people sell "performance chips" on E-Bay which are nothing but resistor mods to the air intake sensor on your car. they do nothing except maybe fuck up your fuel mileage.

You will most likely loose horsepower with a warm air intake.

Sounds badass though.

Ok, here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-89-00-CHEVY-LUMINA-CUTLASS-3-1L-3-4L-3-8L-AIR-INTAKE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQihZ013QQitemZ230234910797QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotohosting

Which looks pretty much like the red one somebody posted here. So this is just BS and I should keep my K+N Filter for my stock DOHC 3.4 ???

Yeah, dont waste your money..

But those cheap intakes do serve a good purpose...

by providing enough pipe and parts for fabricate a nice FWI

Cost me like $20 and is 2.5". Im waiting on some pipe from ebay to come in to do a 3" FWI (appx $70 total cost with filter)

the stock air box is better on a stock or mostly stock car.

Better than an ebay WAI, or you talking about being better than a good CAI/FWI???

Both.

Untrue.

I dont think I need to explain why... Read a few good articles and educate yourself a bit on intakes.

I know plenty about them. I also know that we dynoed a 3100 cutlass with a WAI, FWI and stock ad saw power loss on the WAI and no gain from the FWI. we used a k&n btw. The only real gain was a k%n drop in and that was minimal.

With a ghetto ass intake on my old Z i picked up 2 tenths after swapping intakes at the track. 60fts were comparable but i trapped 1.5mph faster and 2tenths faster with the WAI instead of the stock, i did multiple runs with both.

Bullshit.

PLain and simple. I have seen MULTIPLE 3X00 cars make 4-5whp from both CAI's AND WAI's on the dyno. A K&N on the other hand will be LUCKY to make more than 1.5whp.

Now, of course, when HEAT SOAKED, a WAI *can* cause a power loss, but past 35-40mph IAT temps drop right down and they make just as much power as a CAI does.............again, 3-4 times as much as a drop-in alone.

Either way, a proper CAI WILL make power and WILL outperform a K&N drop-in all day long.

should i ever get a FWI for mine, or make one, i intend on using the newer AEM dryflow filters. i've heard they flow a tad better than the k&n.

Actually, even AEM admits that the K&N outFLOWS their filters quite handilly................but the Dryflow filters FILTER a whole lot better, while still meeting the flow needs of a stock engine.

I intend to throw one in my Prelude when it comes time (this car will remain stock or damn close to it). Of course, now that I think about it, they may not have an application for me...........hmmm............maybe I need to buy a CAI then

Anyway, *I* would have no problems using their filter on a conventional CAI on a close to stock car, but on a more extreme all motor build or under any boost, I WOULD jump up to a K&N just to make sure that it met all flow requirements. But that's just me............
