GJD5
My dad has a 2002 Impala that has the instrument cluster with a tach, speedo, fuel and coolant gauge. In 2004, you could get one that also had a oil pressure gauge and voltmeter. They put this cluster in the monte carlos also. So I was wondering if it is as easy as just getting the newer cluster with all the gauges and putting it in there and maybe needing a different oil pressure sending unit for the gauge? From what I gathered so far, the connectors are definetly the same and the monte carlo and impala clusters interchange.
Crimson Fury Z
iirc, you should be able to plug 'n' play, BUT you'll need to have the odometer programmed to show your correct mileage.
GJD5
What if I didn't get it re-programmed? Would it just show the mileage that the new cluster has or is it going to show an error code?
GJD5
I ran across some info on the web where someone did this swap and everything worked fine It displayed the mileage that the replacement cluster had on it. So, I'm going to try this swap once I find a instrument cluster!
GJD5
Update: I did this swap last weekend and everything worked fine. The instrument cluster retains the mileage that the replacement cluster comes with.
Q-Ball
Was it close to the original milage? If its a lot lower, your car just became more valuable.
