Factory Amp + Components?

So i've been toying with the idea of replacing the front-door speakers now that I have my rears set up on my STE.

I was thinking of just getting a set of Coaxial 5.25's just to throw in there and call it a day, as I didn't want to bother with the expense and effort of buying/installing an aftermarket amp if I were to get components, since the HU's amp wouldn't be sufficient.

However, I was thinking, would the factory amp be powerful enough to make decent use of a set of components? Especially since I've bypassed the factory amp for my rear speakers, there would be less of a load on it.

Also, I assume the factory amp outputs for the fronts are full-range, and not split high/low freq. like the rear deck speakes, is this assumption correct?

Thanks

The major difference between components and coaxials is that components have a seperate tweeter. You can run components off a factory amp with no problems whatsoever. Adding an amplifier for the interiors will always improve the loudness and most of all quality. And to answer your second question, you are correct, BUT that is what the crossovers included with components are for. They split up the highs and lows and send the highs to the tweeters and the mids to your drivers.

the factory speakers are cheap but the oem deck is tuned to get the most out of them.

If you are having problems with the speakers you should get some out of a low mileage donor car in the junk yard or.... you can JL cleansweep your car and get aftermarket amp and components.

Factory amps suck, period.

This is probably right up the W-Body alley...

Heres a few pics of a factory Bose amp from a late model GM vehicle.

Precisely why I always suggest unhooking factory amps... They are small, poorly designed under built over distorted POS's.
