Scottster
I've seen this done often, where people replace the needles with something from another/similar cluster (Ford Contour/Mercury Cougar for example) that's not what I want to do...I was just putzing around with my spare 88/89 cluster. Just wondering how GM fastens them, and what the process is to remove them if anyone knows?
Brian P
usually just pull straight out (evenly!!)
jeremy
I always use a pair of spoons
1990lumina
There are a few ppl on here with those/had those aluminium bezel backings on their cluster - so removal of needles was necessary there. I'm gonna say they pull straight fof too though.
Scottster
I tried pulling straight out rather hard, but it didn't give. I'm worried about damaging the mechanism for the gauge. Could heat maybe help, if there is glue involved?
jeremy
there should be any glue....did you try using the two spoons?
Q-Ball
If you find the answer, I'd love to re attach mine one day in the GTP.
5speedz34
^LOL. Two spoons would work. But ya, they just pull out.
Scottster
Yep, using two spoons worked like a charm. Piece-o-cake.
93cutty
I just did this on my trailblazer. I used a fork to gently slide underneath. Then just apply some pressure and they should pop free.
