Climate controls on a 90 TGP

It's been my impression the logic behind the unit was that the upper set of four buttons engage the compressor for dehumidification of the air, where as the lower four simply run the fan.

I used this logic trying to figure out what the heck the diff. was between "Bi-Level" (B/L) and "Mix". It makes sense that "Mix" is located adjacent to the defrost function, and I could hear the compressor groaning with it engaged.

My HVAC system is possibly out of adjustment though, because with either of the "multi-level" functions engaged, the air flow seems to not come from anywhere! Straight Vent (and AC), Heater, and Defrost blow hard, however B/L and Mix seem inhibited (certainly the air flow is not divided evenly between two sources).

Does anyone else experience this?
