EviLette Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Since this is work being done on both power train/suspension/brakes I'm listing it here. BTW... I think I am going to rename my car the Titanic. Ya know, cuz she's a sinking ship? Only no iceberg. Just 190k of abuse... and I think I've been nice to her. >.> Ball joints - both sides Outer tie rod - left (driver) Brake hoses (all four behind calipers) Re-bleed brakes (x3 now!) Damnable o-ring distributor b/s oil leak. Ordered tires yesterday, they shipped from Shreveport, LA to Fort Worth, TX overnight. They will sit there till Monday. Maybe I should just take a 6 hour drive to pick them up at the Fedex warehouse down there? LOL! Wish me luck, and pray that the worst case scenario I need a master cylinder. Screw the ABS, I've had it with non-functioning b/s on that car. LOL. Quote
Andrew Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 how much did they quote you to fix the oil leak. ??????? Quote
EviLette Posted March 15, 2008 Author Report Posted March 15, 2008 This was the itemization on my statement: front brake hoses - 45.00 rear brake hoses - 63.00 front ball joints - 72.00 dist drive o-ring - 90.00 (lol) additionally, he also installed an outer tie rod as well today, but since he already had the whole thing apart to do the ball joint, he didn't charge me for the tie rod. the total sum on the bill rings up to 298.49 with supplies and tax. he asked for 250. I think I really like this guy. Oh yeah, also when I was about to pull the car back out, I noticed that the top of my coolant resivoir had been broken out the top. Id idn't make a HUGE fuss about it, but i was standing there staring at it, like "did someone punch through the holes in my hood and do this?" and it occurred to me that I had been fiddling with the fuse panel right there beside it earlier that morning, and it had to have happened there. Michael came out and said "Yeah, I did it." he kind of laughed about it, then says that he didn't know how, he'd barely leaned on it. I told him it was 16 year old plastic and had been exposed to UV rays fo ra couple years (due to lack of LOUVERS), but he agreed to pay for it. He said he'll have one on Thursday. I really like this guy. He owned up to what he messed up, as opposed to the last mechanic who put the monster dent in my fender, then was outraged when I said it was him... OH YEAH. So... remember, I mentioned that the tie rods I'd installed preivously, along with the ball joints, I made sure to have moog parts put in? My receipts say Moog. The parts that came out of the car... were NOT MOOG. I'm so pissed. So monday before work. I am going to said shops. Pulling out the receipt, asking them to confirm that they wrote "moog" on the receipt. Then dropping the POS non moog parts on the counter and telling them I want my damn money back. All of it. an estimation of the amount of money spent after this is all said and done (granted I'm tacking on 100 even for the mount/balance for the new tires, and the alignment...) ..... ..... $1,093.91. I hate this car. >.> But. I shouldn't have to do anything to it for a long time. Anything that i do.. will be under warranty. Except for... the really big stuff. Ya know, like the notorious power steering rack? I try not to think about that. Quote
