93CutlassSupreme Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 its a RECALL now?...like...we can take it in and have it fixed?... Well, that's what would seem to be happening here. Quote
jeremy Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 its a RECALL now?...like...we can take it in and have it fixed?... yep, the letter tells you to call and schedule an appointment to get the gaskets replaced....I will try to scan it in sometime soon Quote
terryk2003 Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 its a RECALL now?...like...we can take it in and have it fixed?... Well, that's what would seem to be happening here. well, i wasnt sure if it is actually a recall now or the same letter that i got already that says they are waiting for parts...just wanted to make sure...cool deal...i should get a letter soon then! Quote
BIGBULS Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 It's now a Recall (although GM calls it a "Field Action"). The number is 07035. But don't be surprised if your dealer doesn't have all the parts...........you have to replace the front VC gasket, 6 grommets (which are the hard to find part) and a couple of bolts or studs. Either way.........if your vehicle falls under the Recall, go to ANY GM dealer and have it done. BTW. PM me if you REALLY want your VIN run to see if you fall under the recall..........all I need is the last 8 digits. Quote
jeremy Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 It's now a Recall (although GM calls it a "Field Action"). They called it a Safety Recall on my letter ...anyway I scanned it in below for people to check out if they feel so inclined Quote
BCM Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 A girl I work with has a 2002 GTP. I should probably check to make sure she knows about this.. Quote
terryk2003 Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 from what i read on CGP, its gonna go in phases...phase 1 is 97-2000 i think, then phase 2 will be 2001-2003...soo, technically if that is correct, then mine hasnt been recalled YET... Quote
jerry455 Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 if you have changed your front valve cover gasket you won't have a problem. it is because of alot of newer cars most people don't take care any more. almost all of these cars are higher mileage cars. Quote
jeremy Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 mine's going in for the recall Thursday morning Quote
99RegalGS Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 I still haven't gotten my "official" letter yet. lol Quote
jeremy Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 got everything done today on the GTP.....they even washed the car before giving it back to me .....I called my sister to remind her to take her GS in as well... Quote
Cam'ron Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 only to 03 ? i knew of this but ignored cause i was 3400 powered but now im 04 and L67 powered... did they change something for 04 to get rid of this issue? Quote
Euro Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 I think the L67 in the 04-05 Monte's and Impalas are the same as the 97-03's, I'm not sure why they aren't included. Quote
99RegalGS Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 From what I remember, GM started to use the "updated" gaskets in all 2004 L67's. So, you shouldn't have a massive oil leak from your valve covers gaskets. lol Quote
