GrandPrix34 Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 This is more of a heat shield i made wit some 'material' i have. The difference is noticable in 2 aspects...one, it quited down the intake sound which i love and 2, i can feel a bit more pickup, maybe cuz i dont have hot air hitting the cone at all now... Quote
Mike J. Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Why would you want it quieter ????????? No sometimes a powerful car that is quiet is feels good. Hope it doesn't melt. Its good you have the K&N sticker so no one changes it to a stock filter by mistake and throws away the cone. Just being an A-hole. Quote
patgizz Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 please be considerate of the feelings of the people on dial up. i think you offended them LOL lookin good, i like. i hate the howl that cone filters make, so anything to make it quieter is a good thing. Quote
Aaron Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 i use dial up AOL and it only took about 20 seconds to fully load all the pics. i love the growl my car makes at 3200 rpm. i have people tell me all the time how mean it sounds. i love the cone, + the cold air that my car is getting just makes it sound so mean Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted July 25, 2003 Author Report Posted July 25, 2003 the chances of the ducting melting are slim to none. After driving around to my g/f's house then to another girls' house and then work to check my schedule (lead footing it!), i popped the hood to check it to see how stable it was. I kid you not, the ducting was cool while the rest of the engine compartment was pretty damn hot. Towarsd the back of the ducting, there is an opening. So hot air is still getting in but not quite as much. Oh yeah, the sticker IS there so some dumbass dont throw my cone away and replace it wit an airbox and paper filter!!!!! Quote
Robby1870 Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 please be considerate of the feelings of the people on dial up. i think you offended them LOL I know I was offended Robby Quote

optimusprime Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Is that thing ribbed for her pleasure? Quote
kiwi133 Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Is that thing ribbed for her pleasure? Check out mine, its aluminum flashing pop rivited together and sealed with aluminum tape. Temp sensor even has its own hole it snaps into. Inside is a 9" s&b cone. Its so much better than just the open cone. More pep and I get better fuel economy, by 2 mpg! Quote
jjs316 Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 mines still the best Where does your intake go?? I see in the picture it goes under the washerfluid bottle and all...Where does it go?? Quote
Vegeta Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 It goes straight to the driver seat. If it went to his head rest, it would still be considered a hot air intake though. Quote
92turboLE Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 :withstupid: AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - Justin sorry, that really isnt that funny, but for some strange reason, im in a giddy mood - i dont like it Quote

Aaron Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 this is y i have a website, it ends up right in front of the splash guard in front of my drivers side front tire: This pic shows exactly where my filter is located after the pipe. it is at a weird angle, the drivers front tire is on the far left of the pic. the filter has no splash guard, but somehow is still clean and i havnt had a problem with dirt or water yet. Aaron Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 watch out for big puddles i do the opposite!!! like all fun people, i aim for them to see how high i can get the water. every now and then the car will die out for a second or 2, but not to big of a deal. as i was pulling it out recently, it was wayyyyyyyyyy dirtier than usual. guess its taking its toll. ah well, who cares now huh??? and normally enigne heat will turn it into vapors before it gets into the chamber. one more thing, upon pulling apart the intake, i found oil on my connections and on the throttle nody plate, especially around the edges. anyone know what this is? Quote
Devilsdawg Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 my 2.8 has the same prob with oil in the intake--i figured it was to much blowby on vent tube so i replaced the pcv valve--helped sum Quote
Aaron Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 i heard it is from the small pipe that(on the LQ1) runs from the left side of the front valve/cam cover to thye back of the pleum, where it T's, then one end runs to my intake. it is form that, and i dont think it is a problem and ive heard its normal. twalt13 Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 Aaron, I'd like to see your intake firsthand sometime? Quote
