3.8 SC Low coolant light

So I bought a 97 GTP 3.8 SC a few weeks ago, and I'm having an issue with what I think could be a sensor. What's happening is: I'll start the car in the morning, go to take off (the engine is still cold) and the "low coolan" light will come on. I park the car, turn it off, but when I go to restart it won't. It will try, sputter, very weakly start, then die instantly. I'll let it sit for about 5 minutes, try to start and it turns right over. I'm thinking that there is some coolant sensor that isn't reading correctly when the engine is cold. If anyone has any ideas that could be useful I would greatly appreciate the help!

I think this is in the wrong section, but in any event, is your coolant low? How does the car run? I had a low coolant level on my Lumi, but it always stayed on and my level was good, sensor went bad.

Could just be a sensor, but make sure your coolant level isn't dropping. The light in my Lumina comes on at times when it wants to but it's just a fucked sensor.

Prolly is, mine was the same way. Right side of your radiator, is the sensor. That what cause mine light to come on and off inter.

Sounds like a bad sensor.

Pull it out clean it and it might work. Otherwise replace it.

It's not leaking any coolant, and the level is just fine. I'm going to tear into it this weekend while I'm doing the valve cover and intake gaskets.
