I have to about hald of the time. DOUBLE gasket the drive, with a cardboard ring intended for an earlier (1980ish chevy) v6 in addition to a new rubber RING. maKe the fix bullet proof. Quote
Chancho Posted March 11, 2008 Author Report Posted March 11, 2008 Well i ended up prying it off, and i only replaced it with a new ring from GM, however the old ring at 150k was still in good condition, not brittle or even showing signs of breaking through so i would have to say this ring should last the remaining life of the engine Quote
DavidHowell3633 Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 When I did mine, I tried to grip the edge of the plug from the top in a verticle approach. I was not able to lift it this way. I opened the jaws of the vice grip and came into it horizontally and it came up just fine. That was just my experience. I tapped it prior to removing it all the way to be sure the rod remained in the pump and didn't come off with the piece I removed. Quote
