Doober Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 Can somebody give me a few tips how to get rid of air in my braking system? I replaced accumulator, and now the system can not be pressurised. I bled it several times according to autozone's manual - but the pressure is not commin'. I checked pump- pumps well, check relief valves (removed them and check for ability to hold pressure)- ok. When ignition is on, brake pedal depressed- somekind of pulsating are felt on the pedal, in a 1-2 seconds after depressing (fells like air bubbles rising somewhere). Pedal travels almost to the bottom. Quote
mfewtrail Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 Vladimir, try this procedure outlined here: http://www.kazmotorsports.com/tpsgarage/TGP/brakes/powermaster.htm#BLEEDING I used that procedure above when replacing the accumulator in my car and it worked perfectly. Quote

After you replaced accumulator, if the pump shut of after 60-second run? Quote
mfewtrail Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 After replacing the accumulator and bleeding the brakes, my pump ran for only about 30-35 seconds and then shutoff. It runs for less time than that now when I first start the car. Quote
Doober Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 I mean pump running time before bleeding Quote
mfewtrail Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 I mean pump running time before bleeding I think the pump ran for about a full 60 seconds before shutting off the first time I turned the key forward after swapping the accumulator in. Quote
EviLette Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 This would be my model of abs, yes? (11/91 sticker date) the ignition didn't get turned on at all before we bled the brakes, not until we'd done it twice and were still having pedal issues. I wonder if this is the problem, and my abs isn't malfunctioning, just didn't get set right? Quote

Addicted To Boost Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Its possible.. but I'm pretty sure the PMIII system was only installed in 89-91 cars and a select few 88 model year cars. Quote
