jeremy Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 the price isn't that bad, but I would never bypass A/C Quote
RedGTP Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 yeah but .... I remove A/C piping, I remove my A/C radiator, my bearing compressor is broken, I must change it..and it costs $48 just for the bearing.... Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 hmm, I might get one. Compressor has been dead for like 2 years Quote
rockfangd Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 i believe that on the 2nd gen if you remove the compressor and get the gen1 belt it will work. An example is a 94 cutlass 3100 remove the compressor and install a 1988 to 1993 3.1 belt. Thats what i have been told. Me myself i went and got the bypass pulley for $30 Quote
Andrew Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 NAPA has that bypass pulley too, for about the same price. Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 alt relocation FTW elaborate Quote
Andrew Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 i think he is suggesting relocating the alt to the spot the AC compressor was, thus making its replacement theoretically easier. which is a good idea i think! i dunno if its possible though. Quote

Its possible, I've done it. You have to make a little bracket and hack the wiring harness. Quote

Its possible, I've done it. You have to make a little bracket and hack the wiring harness. When my ac quits I'll probably do the bypass pulley untill my alternator dies and then I'll relocate it. Nothing some cutting, drilling, zippy ties, and duck tap cant make work. Quote
AWeb80 Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 that is a good idea....if I had a LQ1, I'd take the AC off and relocate the alt...I rarely use my AC anyways... Quote
gp90se Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 I am pulling my engine out in the spring, ill be taking pics then Quote
