Fleeingpepper Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 I've gotta make my signature, getting tired of saying this at every thread I start.. 1995 CS. Yes, I've searched, nobody's described their locks not working this way that I found. My driver's side door lock isn't locking all the way. When I push the button to lock the doors the little switch thing doesn't go down all the way, just a little bit. The switch I speak of is thing with the orange and black on it corresponding to unlocked/locked. There's just a tiny sliver of orange left there, and the door is still unlocked. If I want to actually lock the door then I have to push it down with my hand. IDK if this is relevant but the door handle was replaced by my dad when he owned the car, and he didn't put it all back together right. Cheap guy got one from a junkyard and didn't put all the black nuts back on and broke the piece that goes over the assembly.. It feels like I'm going to bend the key a little unlocking the door from the outside. Don't know how relevant that is though... Quote
rockfangd Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 sounds like the rod is binding in the door. 2dr or 4dr. easiest thing to do is pull the panel and watch the rod. Quote
Fleeingpepper Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 It's a 2 door. Hopefully that makes it easier? EDIT: Did a quick search..Didn't find much on how to take the door panel off to check that for my car. Or is there an easier way other than taking that off? Quote
rockfangd Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 oh god its been a while. 2 torx one under the armrest and one under the power window switch. 2 small philips screws at the rear behind the reflector. one philips under the master window switch, one at the front near the mirror, and possibly one at the bottom. pop all of the pins around the sides and bottom, pull up slightly and voila. mostly self explanitory. i may be missing a few things. oh and one phillips behind the door handle and one 8 mm screw behind the panel at the top of the armrest. your problem sounds to me like a bad latch. broken actuator, or a damaged rod. ManicMechanic Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 I had my door panel off recently...There's 1 phillips under the seat belt mechanism cover...1 phillips up by the front of the panel...1 phillips behind the door handle...1 7MM holding the top of the armrest on...1 phillips under the small cover at the top of the door that the seat belt disappears down in to...1 large phillips under the window controls...I think...lol Quote
sliptap Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I don't know if it is the same as a 95 Grand Prix, but: http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalPontiacGrandPrixFSpk.htm I had a similiar problem like that with my car, where one of my door locks wouldn't function with the electronic switch. I could hear the actuator moving, though. It ended up being that my actuator wasn't even screwed into my door. Maybe yours is a loose screw or something? Quote
