So I'm driving today to my aunts home from a friends house, and I'm about a 1/4 mile from my aunts house when flop. The right front tire blows and comes off the rim. Just for no apparent reason. For some reason the whole sidewall blew out. Luckily I was close to my aunts house, and I've gotten the wheel replaced 85.00 :(.

I needed my brakes done anyway so everything worked out. My main concern is I don't know what caused the blowout and I know I didn't run over anything cause it was the side wall that blew out, and there were no objects in the road to puncture the sidewall, and I don't know if the other tires are at risk as well. I don't really know what to look for as far as this goes. Any suggestions? So now I have a new tire and some new brakes, but I'm still concerned about the other tires. Thanks for any help. 8-)

air pressure in the tire could have been a factor also a broken or shifted belt in the tire.

Make sure the spindle and bearings are not seezed up. I've seen one produce so much heat it blew the tire out.

well if it was a ford i would say broken spring but all i can say for yours is either alignment issue, broken belt, under or overinflation. And probably a few other factors

Cheap tires will do this.

Watch what brands if any you name. I've been flamed pretty hardcore before for saying Cooper Tires are junk.

I when I had the tire on the rim replaced I put on a "Douglas" tire, they're made by Goodyear & I've heard they are a good tire. (I'm quite partial to Uniroyal myself but I was in a hurry). In a few weeks I hope to switch out the left front(which is a Tech2000) with another "Douglas" and mount the Tech2000 on a GOOD junk rim and just use that as a full sized spare tire. Come summer, I'm thinking about switching out the back ones to. I'm gonna have a shop inspect the rest of the tires to make sure there is no cause for alarm.

The Douglas tires have a 45,000 mile warranty, and I'm kind of glad this happened. Now I have an excuse to get the tires changed before Spring and Summer. Thanks for the help guys.
