Grand Moff Joseph
Well, looks like I need to change the oil pan gasket on my Lumi. Question for the experts: Do you have to drop the cross beam to get the oil pan out?
5speedz34
Cross-beam as in cradle? I'm not sure, on the 3.4 yes. On the 3.1 maybe. I want to say yes though. You might be able to get away with unbolting the engine mounts and lifting it up a little to get better access to it. I think haynes said that. Bake82
I had to do this in the fall. You will need to drop the cralde to replace the gasket properly. You might be able to cut it and sealit with RTV, but they are expensive enough that I would simply just drop the cradle. On the plus side you get to change all your subframe bushings as well. At the very least replace ALL of the bolts!
Nick1234
its sucks bad. i had the motor lifted up(replacing timing cover gasket) and the dub frame dropped a little bit, and the oil pan was soooo loose, and looked like it should of came out, but it wouldn't. but i had enough room to put the gasket down, in, and under to get it to the other side.
