Do you want coil overs front and rear?

If you just want them in the rear, you could technically build your own if you don't mind having the spring seat on the stock strut mount. Personally I didn't like this option, but others have had no problems with it. This won't be an option for the front, so if you want to do all 4 corners you will be looking at getting some a kit.

Have a read... Its a 13 page write up of my suspension job using the Held Motorsports kits... If I had to do it all over again I would in a heart beat. I have no noises do to the coil over kits (although my sway bar is starting to rub)

I guess I made that lowering thread for nothing cause no one reads it...

Not true! I go there all the time to get the link to my thread

You would think I'd have my own suspension thread book marked or sig'd or something, but nope.

He's right though, he did a lengthy write up of the many ways you can lower a 1st gen or a Gen 1.5 w-body. If you intend to build your own kits there are links to the different parts you will need to do so. Save those links, even if you buy the kits. 9 times out of 10 if you have to replace a strut down the road, you may need some of the other parts, and it will be a far cry less expensive than having to buy all new kits!

ya, read the thread. i made my own rear coilovers, so i should be able to answer specific questions. yes, i am one that did it the ghetto way w/o using mounts. if you add helper springs (hold the spring in place when struts are at full extension), you won't have any problems at all with it that way.

kool, so that goes between the coil over spring and the stock mount?

Is it completely compressed with the weight of the car on it?

Pretty good idea for the rears, but I can't see it working in the front end.

yeah, the regular spring goes on the bottom, then the floater goes on top of that and then the other spring, then the mount. it has a super low spring rate so it doesn't affect it that way. Yes, it will completely compress when the strut is fully compressed, unless your spring is way too short.

ya, the way you have to do the front, you won't need them and won't be able to use that w/o making a custom mount. will def work for the rear, though.

As a man once said.... lower a w? just wait a while! Cant remember who said it

On a side note,,, I dont hink you need those help springs when you have an ADDCO bar installed. There is NO WAY that the spring is coming out of position with that bar installed. I can jack up one side of the car and the spring that is up in the air is still compressed somewhat.

I can see that being needed if you didnt have a sway bar like that and going around corners or up hill/corner the spring becomes unseated.

i had an addco gen 2 on the 96 and gen 1 on the 91 and the 96 would come off quite a bit, while the 91 isn't as much, but i still think it would help.

I think we decided I have the gen 1 addco bar sold under a different companies name. When I had the car sitting on stands I jacked one side up by the hub, and within a couple inches the other side was starting to go up as well.
