unclehotte
Hello. Since my cold start problems I have the car parked till I can get it in the shop. My question is: How in the world can i have an oil level on maximum and 2 INCHES of gas on top of the maximum mark? I clearly see thats the reason for the bad start, it was always flooded. The oil gets changed regulary. Is it an leaking injector? Since my whole garage smells of unburned gas I stopped driving it. I also will change the oil before I drive it to the shop. I hope there is no engine damage? It drove fine till I parked it and showed normal oil pressure. ( Its a 92 Cutlass supreme 3.4) I did a search here and on the net and I didnt seem to find somebody else who run into the same problem. Thanks for any tips! unclehotte
Hmmm...the miles are 120000. And this happened from one day to the next. Shouldnt I have a big power loss if the rings are shot???

Shouldnt I have a big power loss if the rings are shot??? I always thought rings go gradually. You'd probably not notice over time. A compression test will give you an idea if they are shot. IRONDOG442
check your throttle body then MAF then IAT then TPS
mfewtrail
Leaking injector(s) and/or leaking fuel pressure regulator come to mind. If the diaphram inside the fuel pressure regulator is leaking, then you're going to be sucking fuel into the engine via the vacuum line attached to it. You can pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if fuel drips out of the line.
1990lumina
If you tried unsucessfully to start the engine many times over and over it WILL flood the crankcase will gasoline. The gas washes the cylinder walls off too which makes an even harder start with less compression.

Two inches of gasoline on top of the oil is a L-O-T of gasoline; and in particular it's a lot of gasoline to NOT be mixed in with the oil. unclehotte
I agree about the TOO much gas in the oil. I just did an oilchange and disconnected the battery to reset the ECM and all the other stuff people talk about here. Then I started the car and drove it around the block. When I started it there was a lot of WHITE smoke but it started pretty good and the idle went to about 1000rpm. Then i drove it around the block. Everything seems ok. After I parked it again, I waited 5 min, started it again and more smoke and I guess more gas going down into the engine, starting was harder this time. So it seems there is the problem like stated here about fuel pressure regulator or injectors. So i will take it to the shop and see what they will come up with. Thanks for the help and ideas. just hope its NOT THE RINGS,hehe.
19Cutlass94
Better not drive it too awful long with that much gas in there. That WILL damage your engine. Having gas there is just as bad as haven coolant... if not worse.
