Crazy K Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 matt... the car running cold when the tstat is out and running hot with it in is likely consistent with a leak past the radiator. I recommeneded boiling the tstat in water with a wtring to inspect it once the water is boiling. wanna try to work on it tomorrow? Quote

They're so cheap you might as well replace it if you're going to pull it out. Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 14, 2008 Author Report Posted February 14, 2008 I picked one up anyways, that was my thought. And yeah, Ken, if you want to stop by that;d be awesome, but we're probably practicing tomorrow for saturday, but I'm free 100% of sunday too. Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 put the Tstat back in and drove her up and down the road (mayba a half mile) and still getty pretty warm, and having some smoke/steam when I stop. Doesn't look like anything is pouring out anywhere, but there are some green droplets on the back of the oilpan and the rear part of the subframe Quote
rockfangd Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 sounds like a leak under pressure. the thermostat housing is not damaged correct. If it were me i would be pressure testing the system and do a leak down test Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 well, I know the bottom bolt crossthreaded a bit, and isnt tight, but I have absolutely no moisture under the housing, so I'm sue it's not there Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 16, 2008 Author Report Posted February 16, 2008 Well, Ken stopped by today and we took a look at some things, and it looks like one of my hoses by the heater core (behind the block of course) seems to be leaking, either from being an old worn hose, or from a clamp not doing it's job. He's gonna be nice enough to come over sunday and we're gonna run some new hose, and hopefully make the problem go bye bye Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 WTF? N3wb g0t pwn3d!~ Quote
