Fleeingpepper
Soo, have the 3100.. When I first put the car in drive it moves EXTREMELY slow (slower than normal idle pull), then when I press the gas the car starts off very slow, then there's a small lurch after a sec and the car jumps forward at normal speed. It only does this after putting the car into drive, not after a complete stop and not changing gears. Something must be loose or something. So if I punch it right after putting it in drive it almost feels like the drivetrain or something is going to break apart. Feels like something is just a little off then it "clunks" into place when I press the gas. This is pretty hard to explain but I hope this was decent enough. Any ideas of what it may be? Crazy K
Low fluid line pressure. try changing the trans filter. otherwise... the trannys might operate this way for years with no further hickups... does it only do this... the first time you start it? vs... you parked 10 minutes ago and started it back up, vs... you put it in park and back in drive without shutting the engine off? which scenario is the most accurate? Fleeingpepper
I'll check when I drive it tomorrow. And is this anything to be worried about? Would this going unfixed cause any long term problems? Don't take that question as me saying I won't fix it, I'm just curious.
19Cutlass94
When was the last time the tranny fluid and filter was changed? Id take a look at getting them changed if it hasnt been done in a long time. A simple drop of the tranny pan and a new filter can do a long way. Fleeingpepper
It's been too long. That's all I know. It's only been driven maybe 750 miles in the past 8-9 months. Maybe less. And before then I didn't care so much about the car, it was my dad's responsibility, it was his car. And he sometimes neglects some areas of the car, while over actively monitoring other areas. So I'm guessing it's time. The last paper I saw about maintenance was about 30,000 miles ago. I'll check if they even replaced it back then too.. 19Cutlass94
30,000 is a long time to go without changing the tranny fluid IMHO. I try to change it every 15,000-20,000 miles.
Fleeingpepper
Actually that paper says it was taken in 5,000 miles ago. At 130,000 miles. That's where my confusion was. But that was in July of '06, about 1.5 years ago. And it just says the tranny fluid was CHECKED. Not drained, filled, or anything else. So I don't know when the last time the fluid and filter was replaced. It's probably time to.
ns87
Yeah its really not that hard. It's in the FAQ section. Definitely worth doing

Fleeingpepper
Yeah, weak 3100s, but hey, it's a convertible, it'd be slow no matter what. does it only do this... the first time you start it? vs... you parked 10 minutes ago and started it back up, vs... you put it in park and back in drive without shutting the engine off? which scenario is the most accurate? The former. The first time I start it it happens. And yes, with it being Saturday, I'll see what I can do pertaining to the changing of fluid/filter. Hey the 3100 might not be as strong as an L67 or LQ1 but they do sound mean. And I don't know about you but sometimes when I lay my 3100 down she bites back. Main Point: Don't judge a book by it's cover. The former. The first time I start it it happens. And yes, with it being Saturday, I'll see what I can do pertaining to the changing of fluid/filter.
