Vacuum Elbow

Recommended Posts

When inspecting the timing belt on my 3.4, I managed to break the vacuum elbow that is directly above the timing belt cover on the front head. I've looked all over for a replacement and nobaody seems to make them that big. Any ideas as to where I could locate one, or perhaps a GM part number?

That's for your PCV system, I believe.

I'll look up the p/n in a bit.

Thats what I thought, but no one seems to have it locally, nor was I able to find it through GM parts direct

Might have to head for a junkyard.

The parts book is showing just the entire hose from the PCV valve to each valve cover...

You might get lucky and find one in the HELP! section of an auto parts store.

Unfortunately the help section doesn't have elbows that size... maybe i can find something at home depot that would work.

Are you talking about the elbow that goes from the harder plastic pipe into the front valve cover?

How did you break that they should be pretty flexible (able to be squeezed by hand).

HELP! section is your best bet, or a junkyard.

A dealer is going to want to sell you the whole assembly for the PCV system. I replaced the one on my '94. It's slightly different. About $27 from the dealer. Not to bad, since it came with basically most of the vacuum lines for the 94-95 cars.

91-93 cars are much more complex in regards to vacuum routing.

Yes, that is the elbow I'm talking about. It definately isn't soft any more though  . It is hard and brittle and it split open and cracked in half when I oh so gently removed it.

Not having much luck with the help catalog either

I've used an Accell 8.8mm 90 degree spark plug boot. Works perfect. If you want one let me know. I think I have some extra.

Dude, this part cannot be that hard to find a replacement for.

Unfortunately it is, but that spark plug boot is a good idea... I'll have to dig one up. :high5:
