I Have Another Question (This Time About an Amp)

My cousin has an MB Quart PWE-354. It's a 15" sub rated at 800W RMS w/ dual 4-ohm voice coils. He is trying to find a new amp since the old one blew (Kenwood). Any suggestions? The only Memphis that is close to being at or over 800 is the MCD1500, but it is 1500W @ 2 ohms and it's a bit more than he would like to spend ($300 tops). I just don't know anything about other brands (not looking for anything crutchfield carries). Thanks. I guess I should join a car audio forum

I was just posting that one for the sake of price.

Gimme a little while, and I can see what I will come up with.

Edit: Man, the $300 range is so hard to shop for. It's on the verge of crappy and so-so products  :willynilly:

Pretty low distortion ratio (not listed) http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17565

Better to overpower than underpower: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18418

Alright, the price is pretty decent, but the output I would question. They do like to run a bit hot, so don't mount on the box: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17788

It was a Kenwood that blew up in the first place, so probably something else

i can probably convince him to spend a little more than 300

hmm, there is another seller that has one for about 300 shipped...that might work. 800x1 @ 12.5v, 1000x1 @ 14.4

I vote: http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=44

even though its a little more than $300

I thought eD had terrible customer service?

what would you recommend that is a little more than 300? i mean, what is a very good one to get for the price?

what do you think the sub could actually handle?

eD has GREAT customer service. Tomorrow give them a call or talk to them online. Talk to them about your situation and they will take the time and tell you what they think. They are a great company to deal with. Ive done so several times.
