dohc v6 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I found this plug, it has 2 wires coming off of it and they are black and orange. ON the drivers side, right around the brake booster but lower. Quote
Crazy K Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 give us a head on shot! first guess... steering rack sensor. Quote
dohc v6 Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 I checked that, its plugged in. Quote
dohc v6 Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 ahhh, nice one. THanks man Quote
supreme_style21 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I wonder how many times the underhood light plug question has been posted hahaha. I am guilty of that one too.. such an elusive plug. Quote
88red4cyl Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Do all the cars have underhood lights, or just certain ones.. I've never paid any attention to look for the light on my Lumis.. Quote
wildbill Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I am very disappointed that mine does not have one. 2002 GT Quote
ManicMechanic Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Not hard at all to install... 12+ and ground. I put the reel out underhood light from my '92 into my '94...I LOVE that option. Quote
ns87 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I put the reel out underhood light from my '92 into my '94...I LOVE that option. I love the reel out underhood light. I never have batteries in my flashlight, and this comes in handy! Quote
wildbill Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I don't think I have ever seen one that reels out. I'll have to look into that further. Quote
Pontiac6KSTEAWD Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 My truck has one, and I plan on installing one into the trunk of the TGP. One of the greatest things to come out of GM, except the TGP nudges it out.. Quote
rockfangd Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 i have one of those and i love the on and off switch for it. I just have to make it work on my 94 Quote
88red4cyl Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 I would be happy to get any underhood light? What cars can I get one from and how hard is it to install on a Gen 1.5 lumi? Quote
ManicMechanic Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 If you want the reel out...Many GMs from 1988-93 got that...Most Cutlasses have them, I've noticed. Then it's just wiring it...Orange to a constant 12V and black to a neg. It comes on by way of a mercury filled 'switch' in the part itself. Quote
Pontiac6KSTEAWD Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 Jeep Cherokees also had them. On the jeeps, it comes with this neat little moutning bracket that makes it so you can mount it anywhere. But it has the mercury switch in it. The Chevy/GMC trucks have them as well, My 95 (which I sold this morning) had it, and they have a manual on/off switch, and the light has a magnet backing to mount anywhere you need. Quote
AWeb80 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 where is the switch that tells teh underhood light to turn off and on? i've always wondered that Quote
dohc v6 Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 Humm me to, good question Quote
1990lumina Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 It's inside the light housing..just a mercury filled switch. Quote
1990lumina Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 I think I'm gonna make another junkyard run when it warms up and rape a few trucks of their reel of lights lol..put one in my Millenia, Lumina, and RX-7 lol Quote
Pontiac6KSTEAWD Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 It's inside the light housing..just a mercury filled switch. 2 diferent kinds. One is a mercury filled switch that is attached to the hood, and comes on with the hood being open. The other kind is a permanent mount kind, mounted anywhere, with a toggle type switch on the side of the housing. Quote
