HM282 equipped car:

do the shift cables come out from the inside or from the engine bay? the part held in the clamp on the shifter looks too big to pass through the hole on the firewall, and there is something on the outside preventing the same.

I've always pulled them from the inside. they barely pass so you do have to work em.

they are defiantly difficult to get in or out for that matter, the ends just barely pass like ken said. I always have pulled them into the cabin for removal, and from cabin out for install.

thanks gents. i figured as much but wanted to double check before manhandling them.

almost done with one project, then i can put my wagon inside here and swap in a 350 and taking the tgp up to my buddy's warm garage to do the 5 speed swap at his place. the fun never stops

one day i'm going to buy a vehicle that needs nothing and i won't know what to do with my 2 minutes of weekly freetime :willynilly:

it doesn't matter if it's new or not, you'll re-design something "IE; improve it!)

changing those cables is a whore. it might help a bit to remove the heat shield on the engine bay side if you have one. i did that once
