clogged cat, straight pipes AND MORE!

Okay, this is my first post here. I recently bought a 92' Cutlass Supreme SL, damn near pristine condition for $600! Sweet buy, anyways obviously my catalytic converter is severely limiting my performance since it has 195000 miles on it. I am wanting to put on a straight pipe and would like to know what the secret to getting an exhaust place to do it since they are legally not allowed to take it off. I hear that if you take it off yourself then they will do it, Is this true? I have also been told that if you run it with the cat removed entirely for too long it will tear up your engine.

But anyways one more question, what exactly is a "turbo tube" and how much does it help things out?

Sorry for the long post, please help i need that thing gone ASAP!

I dont know where you live but here in KY most any shop will cut a cat off, no questions asked (the one I went to, cut the ones off the cop cars). It wont hurt your engine. A turbo tube is similar to a glass pack, just doesnt use the same materials. I have one on mine instead of a cat, and having it, put a lot of low end torque, I could I was losing with the straight pipe. And, it took some of the pinging sound of the unburnt gas exploding in the exhaust out (A catylitic converter is designed to fully burn all gas that isnt burnt up in the combustion chamber)

Dang, thats cheap. I think when I do my exhaust, im having the turbo pipe instead of a high flow cat installed, then after that, no resonator, and straight pipes. I like it LOUD.
