z yaaaa
hi guys, im new here and this is my first post. please forgive me if this is something thats normally asked a lot around here, i did kind of a little searching around, but nothing seems to be for the sedan models. i have a 95 grand prix SE sedan-has 190,000 miles and is my daily driver. im wanting to fix the rear suspension from laying so low as compared to the front, now ive read this is a common problem as well as just about every other car like mine ive seen on the road has the same issue. ive read up on it a little bit and believe i have the fiberglass rear leaf spring IIRC... correct? and shocks in the rear. am i going to need to replace that spring and the shocks, or will just a new set of shocks do the job? thanks a ton! z yaaaa
ok so i did a search and came up with the rear blocks you can buy to help remedy the situation. MOOG is it? anyways, how much do they run for price and how hard is the install? thanks.
slick
Yeah, the moog leaf spring helpers. They will help, but not tremendously. It sounds as if your shocks, and your springs are out. No need to put a bandaid (moog helpers) on a broken leg (bad shocks, spring, etc...). You need to go underneath the rear end and visually inspect everything. Look for cracks in the spring, that'll be a visual sign that the spring is bad.
Chancho
There shouldnt be springs in the rear. Just the shocks. But just replace the shocks and you will be good. there is either a mono leaf or a coil on each side, last time i checked thats what held up the car... Its called a leaf SPRING for a reason there Jason.... But yeah, try replacing your struts first, from there if the leaf spring looks shot you should be able to replace it with a good one from a wreckers or something. CSI_MuNkY
Yeah I used niteshades, they are also off an older GP, they don't have the black hatching in them. I got sick of the black plastic separating from the clear and filling with moisture. Jamie
z yaaaa
yeah i did my cav tails in nightshades, they look pretty good but i think yours look better. did you have them professionally cleared? i only used shakemup can clear and then wetsanded/buffed them. CSI_MuNkY
Mine aren't cleared, hell they aren't even wet sanded and polished. I'm just that good with a can of spray paint, lol. Seriously though the car is my DD and I needed them back on the car for work, so I never got them cleared or wet sanded. That pic in my avatar does them a lot of justice. The will probably get professionally finished when the car goes in for paint. Jamie
