pose_Z34
Hey y'all. I just picked up a 1992 Z34 5 speed and it has a problem with it idling high when it's first started (around 2000-2500 rpm). The Service engine light is on when it revs high as well, but goes off when the rpm's go down. I have a buddy who says that it could be the idle air unit. I thought it might be that or the pressure switch. Should I change both to be sure? Thanks in advance. Pose
jeremy
did you find out what the code is for?
rockfangd
could also be a coolant temp sensor out of range. That will cause the same type of symptoms
pose_Z34
Just wasn't sure if it was 1thing or several possibilities. Looks like I'll need to run to autozone. They'll scan it for free for me.

Q-Ball
I wanted to do this, but where do you look for these "flashes"?
ManicMechanic
The Check Engine light will flash.
Q-Ball
The Check Engine light will flash. Oh thanks, and then you just count how many times it flashes to find the code?
Andrew
the high idle is very likely to be the LIM gaskets as well.
pose_Z34
I checked the codes and all I get is 12, nothing else. Plus it's not idling high any more. Guess I'll just have to be ready when it does again.
GutlessSupreme
the high idle is very likely to be the LIM gaskets as well. x2 you'll notice this a lot more when it's colder out. The gasket leaks while it's cold and brittle, until it warms up and seals better.
pose_Z34
It's about 15 degrees here and it did fine.
