jmoore4294 Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 My ABS light comes on every now and then, and the next time I start the car up, it is gone. Which is more likely to trigger said light, a wheel sensor or the ABS module? I would take it to get the code read, but I just don't know when or why it triggers. Quote
Crazy K Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 a defective turn signal switch ( in my case only the center high mount wold work) could be an intermittant cause low voltage due to a poor connection, weak ground, or weak battery or alternotor could cause this. find the grounding wire attached to one of the two bolt that hold the lower portion of the steering column to the car, as make sure the wire is there and the bolt is tight. It could still be an intermittant sensor bad module or anything related. Quote
TDS-97CSSL Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I have experienced the same intermittent ABS warning light. Mine seemed to be related to my dying battery and alternator. Those expired one freeway trip, and as soon as the 'VOLTS' light came on, the ABS was right behind it. I limped the car to my destination, got a new alternator and battery, and haven't seen the ABS light since. So low supply voltage was causing it to think something was amiss. It was, but the the braking system. Good luck solving yours! Quote
jmoore4294 Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 I think mine might be low voltage too. I was sitting in traffic the other day, and without warning, my car shut off on me. It was raining, so i had my headlights, and fog lights and windshield wipers and radio and heater on, and when I went to crank it back up, nothing happened. It didn't even try. So I sat for a while and tried it again, and it started right back up, and as soon as I hit my lights it went off again. Hasn't happened since. I got it home. The battery is brand new, so i know that wasn't it. And the alternator has 147,000 miles on it. So I guess it's probably time for a new one. Quote
