Mr_Efficiency
I think it was 95-98 that was the 3X00 that was better than the 3.1 MPFI but not as good as the newer 3X00, sport of a half way point between the best and the worst. I know the 3X00 top end swap has been covered again and again on several sites but i have one question and i cant find the answer anywere. I know when you use an old 3.1 and put the newer 3X00 top end on it (heads, upper and lower intake) you need custom length push rods. is this also true for the 95-98 3X00? Most guys who did the 3X00 top end swap needed custom pushrods, but there are a few who said the stock ones worked fine, and i'm wondering if the guys who had the stock ones work out were using the 95-98 top end. And i know someone is going to come on here and ask me why not do the newer 3X00 top end if i'm going through all that work anyways, and the answer is simply the 95-98 3X00 stuff is everywere, its cheap and its still better than what i have now. thanks
SigEpCutlass
There was a guy on here...i think his name was dbtk2 that has a "3100 hybrid". I'd drop him a line...maybe he can help you out.
Crazy K
the difference would be the same, all the 3x00 engines have the same valve train geometry, IIRC. you should have custom pushrods.
Mr_Efficiency
I found out it is possible to use the stock rockers, only 96+ 3x00 engines need custom length pushrods cause of the newer Roller Fulcrum Rocker arms the 94 and 94 3x00 engines use the same style rockers as the 3.1 so the stock pushrods are ok as long as you use a 94 or 95 3100. How about that i answer'd my own question after a few hours on google, lol thanks for the replies tho guys
