ns87 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 didn't you just stick an engine in? whats the problem? you're thinking of someone else who doesn't type properly! The cheepest and easest engine is whatever your car has! Quote
Chancho Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 3100, its cheap and overall pretty reliable so long as you get the upgraded intake gaskets Quote

MonteCarloDude Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 3100 or a 3400, if it's the same price. Quote
xtremerevolution Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 I would get an L27, but that's me, being one of the only ones here with the L27. The engine is extremely reliable, has a ton of low-end torque (and I mean, a lot of torque starting at 1500 RPM), and runs me 28mpg highway at 80mph (though I do have roller rockers, intake, and exhaust done). xtremerevolution Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 My van has an L27... And for a good reason too. Lots of torque, and they last for freakin ever, like an energizer battery. Quote
hell_raiser Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Posted January 23, 2008 what would i half to do to the 3400 to put it in my 97 cutty? do i need to change the timing chain cover? Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 the 3400 has the same dimensions as the 3100 engine that Oldsmobile put ino those cars from the factory no mods neccesary Quote
Brian P Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 ...especially if you grab a '96-99 3400 it will literally be plug and play (except the little braces reinforcing the Alternator and MAP sensor. Make sure you get those) Quote
hell_raiser Posted January 24, 2008 Author Report Posted January 24, 2008 soo would a van engine be good? 120,000 km Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 It doesnt matter if its a car or van engine.. its the same thing. There are still issues that you will need to deal with either way. Quote
