revelated Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Hey guys I hope that you can help me, my mechanic and I have been scratching our heads on this one! I have a '01 Buick Regal LS with the 3.8 non-supercharged. This stalling problem is intermittent, what happens is that when driving down the highway at like 65 mph or even in town driving.......the car will make a weird harsh shift/engine stumble I guess you would call it......thats how you know when the car will act up.......anyways I will go to slow down from highway speeds and the watch the RPM's go down.....then it goes below 1000 rpm's then like 500 rpms then lower as I slow down more to stop.....then finally the engine just turns off....no sputtering or nothing.....its like you turned your key off....so then I glide to a stop......throw it into neutral and it starts right up but you must keep giving it gas to stop from stalling out again....then drop it into drive and away you go.....till the next time you have to let off the gas then it will stall out again once you slow to a certain speed without giving it gas to keep the rpms from going to low......but then the car will start to drive normally again for a while without any problems! So I call it my two personality car......the computer will set the "service engine soon" light off......and sometimes it will stay on......then after a while it will go out on its own......the scanner comes up with a MAS error.......so we replaced it with a used MAS from the wrecking yard out of a 02 Regal......but the same problem exists......so then we replaced the catalytic converter, thinking it was plugged......which it was too a point......so my car now seems more powerful......but I still have the stalling issue.......any idea's would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!!! Quote
cutty Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 did you try cleaning the MAF with special MAF sensor cleaner?? Because they can get dirty after awhile. Quote
Andrew Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 being so random, maybe you have a wire that has chaffed, and you are intermittently grounding out somewhere. oh and check the resistence on your injectors. worth a shot. Quote
